My first technology-related volunteer experience was the Human-Computer Interaction Research Study at University of Waterloo. The most interesting part of this study is the experimental process. In order to provide sufficient data, I dragged, touched, and sppined circles, which were displayed on a tablet, over 300 times in 1.5 hours. This volunteer experience improved my communication skill from communicating with the instructor.
After a month, I volunteered to another study, which was called Audio Visual Causality Study. This was a study that examined and recorded the appearing sequences of two dots. During the experiment, I made choices between 800 pairs of dots, just to determined the sounding priority for each pair.
Before the events above, I participated in an environment-related study, which was the Virtual Reality Study. That was the first time that I saw a digital pulse sensor, which was used to collect physical data. Various virtual envorimnets were displayed on a computer screen, and my job was to determine the most comfortable one.
Additionaly, I was also assigned to open house events, which were held by University of Waterloo. The March Break Open House in 2015 was the first one, and the You@Waterloo Day was the next event. I volunteered as one of the welcome booth representatives, and the program representative. Both positions required proufound knowledge about academic information. Visitors were well-prepared with questions, and curious about everything happened at University of Waterloo.
